SFI protests against educational policies

Activists of the Students Federation of India (SFI) took out a march to the office of the Deputy Director of Education (DDE) at Mananchira here on Thursday to press their demands in the education sector.

The protest march was organised by the district unit of the SFI. The SFI State committee had earlier submitted a memorandum to the State government against its educational policies.

The march, which began from the Malabar Christian College campus, was inaugurated by SFI State secretary P. Biju at 1 p.m. A large posse of police personnel led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohana Chandran blocked the protesters from entering the DDE office.

Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) district secretary K.K. Dineshan; president P.A. Mohammed Riyas; SFI district president V.Vaseef; secretary T.P. Bineesh; and V.K. Kiran Raj; spoke.

SFI office-bearers M. Sameesh, T.K. Sumesh, R. Subash, K.K.Shajith and V.T. Shamseena led the protest. The police have registered a case in connection with the agitation.
