January 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - KOCHI:

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Tuesday directed the Travancore Devawom Board (TDB) to consider whether the right to run restaurants at Nilackal, Erumeli, Pampa, and the Sannidhanam could be awarded either to the Indian Coffee House or the Consumer Federation or the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation.

The Bench also asked the TDB to seriously consider whether the right to operate restaurants at Nilackal and Erumeli could be given to Kudumbasree units as well.

The court directed the TDB to take a decision within a month and to file a report before February 23.

The court also directed the Board to take a decision on the suggestion by the Ombudsman for Travancore and Cochin Devaswom Boards on the utilisation of voluntary service of retired Central and State government servants at Sabarimala, instead of appointing its own staff.

The Ombudsman made the suggestion in the backdrop of the recent theft at Sabarimala.
