A march taken out by United Democratic Front (UDF) workers to the Ernakulam Rural District Police Headquarters in Aluva, demanding action against the police officers who allegedly manhandled Usman of Eadthala, turned violent on Tuesday.
The police resorted to lathi-charge and used water cannons to disperse the agitators after they pelted stones at the officers and tried to dislodge barricades. Three Youth Congress workers sustained injuries in the police action.
According to the police, around 300 persons led by Aluva MLA Anwar Sadath took part in the protest.
