: The city police on Wednesday launched a probe into the theft of a couple of computers and other electronic devices from the political science department of the Ernakulam Maharaja’s college.

According to police, unidentified people broke into the department office and made off with the electronic equipment. As per the complaint filed by N.Remakanthan, Head of the Department, the items stolen include two computers, two CPUs, one LED TV and a printer.“Despite being locked, the thieves gained entry into the room by just pushing open its door. This suggests the involvement of persons who are familiar with the college as well as the department building’’, officials said.

Police have collected finger prints from the crime scene and statements of the college authorities. A case has been registered under IPC sections 457 and 350 for house breaking and using criminal force.

According to them, the duo were identified as former students of the college.
