‘U.K. willing to promote entrepreneurs’

The start-up firms at Maker Village, India’s largest electronics hardware incubator, that are trying to address real-life issues came in for praise from British Deputy High Commissioner Jeremy Pilmore-Bedford on Wednesday.

During a visit to the incubator, he commended a company that had developed an IOT-enabled solution for safe transportation of blood bags; a company which innovated the automated solution for Neera tapping and energy optimisation device for corporates and a company automating roti cooking.

“The United Kingdom is willing to promote start-ups in India by facilitating young entrepreneurs to connect with U.K. Industries,” he said.

“In terms of the companies that I have seen here, I am very much impressed by the energy and enthusiasm the teams have, and also the creativity and the real problem-solving ability of the companies,” the diplomat said.

“It is important to develop problem-solving skills and apply them judiciously by leveraging emerging technologies to address the day-to-day challenges faced by society,” he said.

He said the High Commission would actively look at bringing more British companies here to understand the start-up ecosystem and to discuss chances of collaboration.
