Residents along the Palarivattom-Thammanam Road are irked again as the water pipeline-laying works that have been going on for over a month have been stopped again. Motorists too were finding it difficult to use the road due to the work.

A senior official in the Kerala Water Authority said that the pipe laying works completed from Palarivattom junction to Samskara junction were undergoing tests. The road will be resurfaced once the testing of the pipelines is over. There is, however, a slight delay in the pipeline laying process further down the Samskara junction as a number of KSEB cables and other pipelines are present there too.

Meeting with Mayor

There is a space constraint for the 1.2 km stretch from Samskara junction. These need to be sorted out by discussing it with the other agencies. A meeting to address the issue is planned for Saturday with the Mayor and other officials representing various agencies involved in different works.

Trial pits have been dug, but work can start only when other agencies involved in the area are informed about the work.

The KWA official said that the stretch of the road up to Samskara junction would be resurfaced before the work moved on to the next stretch. Some materials for road building have already been heaped alongside the road, but work would be possible only during the night.
