The Kochi Corporation may think of alternative measures for operating the ro-ro vessels if Kerala Shipping and Inland Navigation Corporation Limited fails to run them, said Soumini Jain.

Responding to the controversies over the suspension of services, Ms. Jain said the civic body would seek the views of the agency, which was entrusted with the task of operating the vessels, for stopping the operations abruptly.

All mandatory registrations were done and permissions were obtained for the twin vessels. It also has insurance coverage, which is valid till June 6. KSINC officials had not pointed out the reported inadequacies, which they have highlighted in the statement, earlier, Ms. Jain said.
