Vehicles using the Chennai Silks-Hotel Abad Plaza stretch along MG Road, where barricades have been put up for Kochi Metro’s piling works, will not be diverted, the police have informed. This is because there is space for one-lane traffic on either side of the stretch.
However, cars and other light vehicles should take a turn from Kacheripady, ply through Chitoor Road and join MG Road’s southern side.
Similarly, vehicles heading in the opposite direction can take a turn towards Menaka from Ravipuram, Pallimukku, Maharaja’s Ground or Jos Junction and later join Madhava Pharmacy Junction. KSRTC buses bound for northern districts can use A L Jacob overbridge to reach KK Road and later Kaloor. Parking has been banned on either side of the piling site. The police have issued a notice to NHAI’s Kochi project director to fill all potholes at the four junctions on Edappally-Aroor NH Bypass. According to the police, the potholes are holding up traffic and causing accidents.

Though the NHAI had filled a few potholes at Vyttila, the lane leading to the mobility hub and the free-left turn towards Tripunithura are packed with potholes.
The DMRC has meanwhile informed that it would try to minimise the inconvenience caused to road users.
It requested members of the public to bear the temporary inconvenience likely to be caused during the work.

It further said work to identify the sewerage line from Mullassery Canal to Jos Junction would be taken up soon. Only after the line is identified will metro works in this section begin.
