The probe into the cocaine case took a new turn on Monday with Prithviraj, the seventh accused in the case, expressing willingness to turn approver.

The police produced him before the Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court and recorded his statement under Sec 164 of Cr. PC (secret statement). The statement of the taxi driver, who had brought the Nigerian drug peddler Okowe Chigozie Collins to the flat of the main accused, was also recorded by the court based on an application moved by the investigation team.

The move is expected to help shed more light on the case, and strengthen evidence against the other accused.

Prithviraj was arrested from Chennai on March 22 by a Special Investigation Team along with his accomplice Jasbir Singh, based on the information elicited from Collins.

The duo had allegedly helped the first two accused Reshma Rengaswamy and Blessy Sylvester to engage in cocaine trade.

Investigations revealed that Reshma and Blessy had been maintaining close links with them and obtained the high end drug from Okowe with the duo’s help.
