New BHIM App version rolled out

It is available on Google Play Store as BHIM 1.4.1

KOCHI: The new version of the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) / Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a platform developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), is now available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store as BHIM 1.4.1.

At an interactive session here on Friday, NPCI officials gave details about the new version and explained how it supported individuals and small kirana store owners.

Users can invite others to use BHIM App via social media or messaging apps. The upgraded version also helps kirana store owners add their helpers or delivery boys as agents for collecting payments.

Once store owners declare themselves as merchants by clicking ‘I am a merchant’ tab, they can share their QR code with agents who can display it for customers while collecting payments. On successful transaction, the agent and the merchant will get a confirmation SMS.

13 languages

‘The statement issued by NPCI said BHIM App was available in 13 languages. It added that scanning BharatQR code with BHIM / UPI App was now possible. As on October 31, 2017, as many as 59 banks are live on BHIM platform. BHIM / UPI works 24X7 and 365 days, and money can be transferred directly to the user’s bank account without visiting any bank branch. The only prerequisite is to link the mobile number to the bank account and secondly, while transacting, the SIM card of the mobile number linked to the bank account should be used in the mobile handset.

According to NCPI officials, there has been over 20 million downloads of BHIM App so far.
