Senior Aam Aadmi party leader Prashant Bhushan launched a fierce attack on the BJP-led government at the centre, alleging it of openly indulging in crony capitalism and politics of communalism while remaining indifferent to curbing corruption at the same time.
Speaking at a function in Aluva near here, Mr. Bhushan said that the NDA government was just following the footsteps of its predecessor in addressing the issue of corruption. “The UPA regime was filled to brim with the same issues of corruption and crony capitalism. However, they had managed to bring forth some pro-people measures, which the current government has managed to undo with a series of ordinances. The government is advocating trickle-down effect for economic growth, just like the government before, and adopting pro-corporate measures while neglecting the poor,” he explained.
Emphasising that the government has failed miserably in its assurances on bringing back black money stashed abroad, he pointed out that the authorities were yet to bring about a law that would make foreign investors more accountable. “A majority of our investments come from companies registered in tax havens. How can they, when their own parties are funded by the Ambanis and Adanis, who are the major hoarders of black money,” noted Mr.Bhushan. On the occasion, he also sought to know why the intelligence agencies were being left out of purview of the RTI and said the current head of CBI was equally weak and pliable to the demands of top political leaders. He further noted that the NDA government posed a major threat to the secular fabric of the nation.
