Suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Thadiyantavide Nazeer has been arraigned as the first accused in the case regarding attempts to influence the witnesses in the 2008-Bangalore blast case.

The police team has filed a fresh FIR in the case, naming Nazeer as the first accused. His aides, Allapra native Shahnas P.A. and Kannur native Thasleem K.K., are the second and third accused in the case. The trio has been booked for criminal conspiracy and abetment under 120B and 109 of IPC, in addition to Sections 22 and 39 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for threatening witness and for supporting a terrorist organisation.

The police said investigations have revealed that Nazeer and Shahnas had conspired to influence the witnesses in the blast case by threatening and luring them and attempted to destroy evidence with the help of Thasleem.

Official sources said the investigators would now move to record the arrest of Nazeer, currently lodged in Parappana Agrahara central jail, Bengaluru, and seek his custody.

On Tuesday, the police produced Shahnas and Thasleem before the additional chief judicial magistrate court here, which sent them to judicial custody. The court also heard the bail applications of the two accused on Tuesday and is slated to pronounce the order on Wednesday.
