District Collector M.G. Rajamanickam inaugurated a model polling station at the district collectorate on Friday.

Delivering the inaugural address, Mr. Rajamanickam said that the model polling station was aimed at familiarising the electorate with the multi-post electronic voting machines. Members of the public and officials visiting the collectorate for various purposes can make use of the facility. An official has also been deployed to clear doubts about the use of the machine.

The squad entrusted with removing campaign materials displayed in violation of the model code of conduct on Friday removed 246 posters, 52 boards and 24 banners from Vazhakkulam, Sreemoolanagaram, Kanjoor, Kalady, Malayattoor, Keerampara, and Kothamangalam. Four vehicles used for campaigning using loudspeakers without securing the permission of the police were also seized.
