P.T. Thomas, MLA, has expressed his suspicion that attempts are being made by various quarters to sabotage the female actor sexual assault case.

Talking to the media here on Thursday, he alleged that the visit by members of the film fraternity to the prominent accused lodged in prison and the statement critical of the police and favouring the accused made by actor and legislator K.B. Ganesh Kumar were attempts at torpedoing the case.

He also alleged the use of money and influence to turn the case upside down. Mr. Thomas criticised Sebastian Paul, former MP and Left co-traveller, for his statement in support of actor Dileep, an accused in the case. He said that such statements made by people of some standing in polity encouraged others to come out in the open, supporting the accused. It was to put pressure on the government in this regard that film workers with a Left-leaning abstained from the State Film Awards function, he maintained, and asked the government to examine if the case was being sabotaged.
