Midhila Mohan murder: no objection to CBI probe

The State government on Thursday informed the Kerala High Court that it has no objection to the Midhila Mohan murder case being transferred to CBI.

The government made the submission when a petition filed by M. Manesh, son of Mohan, seeking a CBI probe into the case came up for hearing.

Mohan, an abkari contractor, was shot point blank at his residence in Palarivattom by unidentified persons on April 6, 2006.

According to the petitioner, the Hurt and Homicide Wing of the Crime Branch, which was probing the case, had refused to investigate reports that a number of persons involved in the murder had been eliminated.

In an affidavit, the crime branch pointed out that a proper and deep investigation was conducted into the death of these persons and ruled out the involvement of these persons.

The affidavit added that the investigation revealed that the two remaining accused, Mathivannan and Uppali, did not belong to Tamil Nadu, as claimed earlier, and might be Sri Lankan Tamils.
