: A four-member team deputed jointly by the Kochi Metro and Kalamassery municipality on Monday took stock of the work site in the stretch between Kalamassery and Edappally and identified the problems caused by the metro construction works.

“The team, which inspected the site in the morning, identified a few problems that will be addressed on a priority basis and some other requirements, which will be fulfilled eventually,” said top officials of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited.

The team comprised a general manager from KMRL, a technical expert from DMRC, representatives of the contractor agency and the municipality.

Confirming the visit, a DMRC official said the complaints of choked drainages, water pipeline bursts and enforcement of unscientific traffic regulations have all been verified. “It will come up for discussion during a high-level meeting to be convened by the Chief Minister,” a DMRC official said.

The inspection comes after the municipality directed that all Metro-related activities be stopped. Following this, works on the six piers from 218 to 223, were held up, breaking the momentum of works between Aluva and Palarivattom.

According to the municipality, the ban on metro works was ordered on April 13 in the wake of repeated violations by the metro authority regarding the agreement on land use.
