The district administration will provide alternative facilities to government offices being relocated as part of the road development works ahead of the proposed Metro Rail project.
The registration and re-survey offices at South will be relocated. The plot owned by the Kochi Corporation where a shopping complex is located is being considered for the registration department offices.
The idea is to pull down the existing shopping complex structure and to set up a modern multi-storied building in its place. District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed said that the proposed building will have both shop and office spaces.

Until the new building is completed, arrangements will be made for registration offices either in revenue tower or in a rented building. Resurvey office will be shifted to the newly set up planning secretariat at the civil station. The Collector has sought a report on the facilities needed for registration and re-survey offices. Meanwhile, St. Antony’s School at Kacheripady has sought advance assistance to reconstruct the boundary wall before acquiring its land. Out of the compensation, funds needed for the construction of the wall will be given in advance.
A proposal to take over the land adjoining the school compound wall that houses a water tank and water taps is also being considered.
Similarly, remaining land will be assessed and compound wall constructed before acquiring eight cents of the Ernakulam Government Girl’s Higher Secondary School at South. Besides, a tank for rain water harvesting, kitchen, and toilets will also be constructed. The School PTA has given a memorandum requesting the construction of an auditorium and classrooms.

The Collector said that a demand made by the Kochi Metro Rail Limited asking for eight cents of revenue puramboke along the M.G. Road near the Shenoy’s Junction is also under consideration.
