Many an infrastructure work yet to get going

Ernakulam District Residents’ Associations’ Apex Council (EDRAAC) Palarivattom zonal committee held a development seminar for Palarivattom, Thammanam, Edappally, Mamangalam areas in the first week of January. Concerns were voiced at the meeting over the inordinate delay in taking up projects such as flyovers at Edappally, Palarivattom, Vyttila and Kundannoor, widening the road from Palarivattom to Vyttila via Thammanam by 26 metres, maintenance of P.J. Antony Road and Nethaji Road to reduce traffic, development and beautification of Palarivattom junction, intensifying mosquito control programmes as part of health protection and installing surveillance cameras at important places.

The Vyttila-Ettumanoor road would be made four lane and funds allocated in the next budget, and works will be undertaken up to Poothotta in the first phase, said Minister for Excise and Fisheries K. Babu while inaugurating the annual public meeting of Thripunithura Rajanagari Union of Resident’s Associations (TRURA). The Vyttila-Kaniyampuzha road will be widened and a new road constructed from Pulleppady connecting Sea-Airport Road, the Minister informed.

He also said that formalities have been completed in respect of construction of Eroor overbridge. The Minister praised TRURA’s endeavour in development activities and said preference will be given to matters raised by resident associations.

The Thanal Residents Association was formally inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution K.V. Thomas in December. A public meeting was inaugurated by Excise Minister K. Babu. Members of about 250 families in the Palluruthy area are part of the association.

Edappally Chandrathil Road Residents Welfare Association – SWARAKSHA held its 21 annual meeting. Benny Behanan, MLA, inaugurated the meeting. Kalamassery Circle Inspector K.V. Purushan released association’s news letter.
