Kudumbasree to create 10,000 jobs in farm sector

The district unit of Kudumbasree poverty eradication mission will generate 10,000 new jobs during the current financial year as part of the mission’s social security campaign aimed at securing livelihood for people in the economically disadvantaged groups.

An official of the Kudumbasree mission said on Monday that 10,000 of the new jobs would come in the farming sector with groups of women taking up collective farming on leased land.

Another 10,000 jobs will be created in the micro and tiny sectors for people skilled in various crafts and food processing, among others. Kudumbasree mission will also help 5,000 women find placement in different jobs depending on their skills.

The mission will extend its social security projects like Ashraya — housing for the homeless — and establish 12 more Buds schools for mentally challenged children in the districts. Thirty-three libraries will be established as part of the mission improving its reach through the Balasabhas, councils of children spread across the 84 panchayats in the district.

The mission has also formed 2,438 new neighbourhood groups in the district as part of a total inclusion campaign.

With these, the number of neighbourhood groups in the district has gone up to over 20,000, with over four lakh women members in it.

The State has seen an addition of 31,557 new neighbourhood groups under the total inclusion campaign, which is aimed at bringing all the economically disadvantaged families in the State under the Kudumbasree mission.
