State heaves a sigh of relief

The Indian nurses from war-ravaged Iraq are expected to be flown to Kochi on a special Air India aircraft on Saturday morning. An Air India flight left Delhi for Erbil in at 6 p.m. on Friday. The flight, AI 160, is set to reach Kochi airport at around 6.40 a.m. on Saturday.

Director of Kochi International Airport A.C.K. Nair convened a meeting of all agencies to review the arrangements for their arrival. The airport will deploy special staff to receive and distribute refreshments to the passengers coming straight from a five-hour journey. “The emigration wing and the Customs will open exclusive counters for their hassle-free clearance. A few relatives would be allowed inside the terminal,” Mr. Nair said.
