Kochi Metro Rail: meeting to decide DMRC’s role

The extent of involvement of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in the Kochi Metro Rail project will be finalised here on Tuesday, at a meeting that will be chaired by the Union Minister for Urban Development Kamal Nath.

As per preliminary reports, the DMRC will execute the project and invite tenders. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Union Ministers Vayalar Ravi and K.V. Thomas, Minister for Power and Transport Aryadan Mohammad, Union Urban Development Secretary Sudhir Krishna, Chief Secretary of Kerala Jose Cyriac, Urban Development Joint Secretary and Kochi Metro Rail Limited’s Board member S.K. Lohia, KMRL MD Elias George and DMRC MD Mangu Singh will attend the meeting.

The Principal Adviser of DMRC E. Sreedharan too will attend the meeting where the terms of engagement of the DMRC in the project will be finalised.

Minister arrives

E. Sreedharan will continue as principal advisor to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, said Kamal Nath, Union Minister for Urban Development.

He was responding to media queries on his arrival at the Cochin International Airport for the meeting to finalise the Kochi Metro Rail Project here on Tuesday.

The DMRC will extend all possible support to KMRL and the aim is to complete the Kochi Metro Rail as soon as possible, Mr. Kamal Nath said.
