ISRO space pavilion at Cusat

A space pavilion set up by the Indian Space Research Organisation at the Centre for Science in Society (C-SiS) at the Thrikkakara campus of the Cochin University of Science and Technology will greet young science enthusiasts getting ready to attend Cusat’s Science Talent and Total Capacity Development Programme this summer vacation.

M.C. Dathan, Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, inaugurated the facility on Wednesday.

In his address on the occasion, Mr. Dathan said the ultimate goal of scientific research should be the benefit of mankind and Nature. Vice-Chancellor J. Letha urged the stakeholders in higher education to work together to obtain patents for their scientific findings.

Rocket models

The pavilion has showcased models of various rockets and artificial satellites launched by ISRO and busts of renowned scientists.

C-SiS representatives said that the pavilion would offer an exciting space for students participating in the science talent development programme.

Participants will be exposed to the lives and achievements of renowned scientists and inventors through actual demonstrations and vivid descriptions of stories behind such discoveries. The aim is to inculcate the basic principles of science among students in an interesting manner, especially through observations and experiments.
