One shop was gutted and another was partially damaged in a fire accident at Erumely, near here, on Wednesday midnight. While a textile shop at the Central Junction in Erumely was fully gutted, an adjoining vegetable shop was partially damaged. Fire and Rescue Services personnel from Kanjirappally were pressed into service to douse the fire and prevent any further damage. Short-circuit inside the textile shop is believed to have caused the fire. The extent of loss is yet to be ascertained.
