The State government on Tuesday informed the Kerala High Court that it had decided to conduct a thorough Vigilance probe into various allegations of corruptions in the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC) and Kerala State Cashew Workers Apex Industrial Cooperation Society

In an affidavit, P. S. Rajesh, joint secretary, Industries Department, said an expert committee formed as suggested by the High Court had pointed out certain irregularities in the purchase and sale of cashew nuts.

The committee had recommended reconstitution of the board of the KSCDC and the society. The panel said there were no planned procurement of raw cashew nuts and sale of products. The ad hoc way of purchase and sale had adverse impact on the finance of the organisation. The committee found that the system of internal control, concurrent audit, and cost estimation were absent.— Special Correspondent
