The 23-year-old MBA student, who was arrested by the Perumbavoor police on charges of recording nude photographs of her hostel mates and sending them over to her boyfriend in the U.K., was granted bail on Thursday.

The girl was produced before the Perumbavoor Judicial First Class Magistrate court after the police charged cases under Sections 67 and 69-A of the Information Technology Act and 119 of the Kerala Police Act.

The girl was a second year student of a college at Marappally near Perumbavoor. She used to record the visuals of her hostel mates using a handycam. One of the students spotted these images in her personal computer, while she was away on tour and alerted the college authorities. This led to her arrest.

The accused – the girl and her boyfriend – and the victims were school mates and knew each other. Even though the boy, who was doing his higher studies in the U.K., could not be contacted, his parents have been alerted about his role in the crime.

It is learnt that the boy got in touch with the three girls whose images were captured and transmitted and apologised to them about the incident. The police had earlier secured evidence about the images and videos being transmitted from the computer used by the girl and also from the history of the chats that she had with her boyfriend.
