Party State council member Sajeevan sustains leg fracture in attack

KOCHI: The Palarivattom police have taken four persons, reportedly owing affiliation to the RSS, into custody on charges of assaulting a BJP State council member.

The incident took place late on Sunday night when a group of four men barged into the house of Sajeevan, 47, at Palarivattom. “The accused gained entry into the house around 9 p.m. and attacked Sajeevan with a wooden stick. Sajeevan’s leg got fractured in the attack. As his family members raised an alarm, the accused fled the scene,” the police said.

Sajeevan is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

A preliminary investigation suggested that Sajeevan had some issues with a local RSS leader. The four RSS activists who were taken into custody are Lal Jeevan, Rajeesh, Sarath, and Vysakh, all from Kakkanad.

“There were allegations of Sajeevan spreading canards about the family of an RSS activist. This might have led to the attack,” the police said.

Earlier, local BJP and RSS leaders had intervened in the matter, though to no avail.
