A police team from Muvattupuzha will soon leave for Tamil Nadu in search of a four-member family who have gone missing from last week.

Biju, 45, who ran a chartered accountancy firm in Muvattupuzha, has gone missing from his residence along with wife Soorya and two children, Aji and Suji, since September 11. The police launched a probe based on a complaint lodged by Biju’s brother Binu.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the family has been facing serious financial issues.

“The fact that he is liable to repay loans to several individuals may have forced him to go into hiding. We tried locating their mobile phones but all of them were switched off since last week,” said Jaya Kumar, Circle Inspector of Police, Muvattupuzha.

The social media accounts of both the husband and wife were also found to have been deleted.

The police received a complaint only two days later as their relatives initially thought that the family might have gone on a pilgrimage. However, complaints of Biju defaulting loans began to arrive as soon after they went missing, prompting the police to record Binu’s statement and register a case.

Official sources said Biju maintained several links in Tamil Nadu and might be possibly hiding somewhere in the State.
