Employees and officers of FACT have threatened to block traffic on the Container Road indefinitely from March 8 to press their demand for a revival package for the public sector company.
Leaders of Save FACT Action Committee announced at a press meet on Monday that blocking the Container Road was part of the plans to intensify the ongoing protest action by the employees of the company.
Convenor of the Committee K. Chandran Pillai, and former MLA and AITUC leader P. Raju said the protesting workers would also not allow George Thomas of FACT (PD) Workers’ Organisation, who is on indefinite fast before the company headquarters, to be arrested with the intention of breaking his hunger strike.

Four of the trade union leaders who were earlier on hunger strike were arrested and shifted to hospitals after their health deteriorated. The latest to be arrested and taken to a hospital was A. Vishwanathan of the FACT (CD) Workers’ Congress, INTUC. He was shifted out on Sunday.
Minister V.K. Ebrahim Kunju was among the leaders who visited the site of the hunger strike on Monday.
