Minister for Local Self-Governments A.C. Moideen and Mayor Soumini Jain visiting the Brahmapuram solid waste treatment plant on Sunday.

The State government is making all efforts to resolve the waste management crisis at Brahmapuram till the waste-to-energy plant is set up, A.C. Moideen, Minister for Local Self-Governments, has said.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the Brahmapuram plant, Mr. Moideen said cities like Kochi needed a centralised waste management programme though the government policy was for decentralised solutions.

Steps for treating leachet flowing out of garbage heaps are being taken. Leachet flow can be controlled only when the waste accumulated on the campus is removed, he said.
