DJ Kokaachi held in drug case

The city police on Tuesday arrested yet another DJ in connection with the seizure of drugs during a party at a luxury hotel in Kochi on Saturday night.

The arrested has been identified as Mithun C Vilas alias Kokaachi, 27 native of Ponnekara, who has been arraigned as fifth accused in the case. According to police, he was arrested following a raid at his residence.

During the raid, the sleuths recovered banned narcotic substance including 40 grams of hashish and two bupropion ampoules. There were also some empty packets used by the accused to store cocaine.

The seized narcotic substance was initially checked using drug testing kit and sent to Regional Chemical Laboratory in Kakkanad for detailed examination.

The DJ was arrested based on the information the police got while interrogating those arrested earlier. Based on the information, the police conducted a surprise check at his residence.

According to officials, Rahul, a popular DJ from the city, had invited the Russian DJ Psykovsky to the city. He had also acted in a couple of Malayalam movies and was familiar face in the celebrity circles.

He had allegedly organised a similar event last month.

Police have charged cases against the accused under various sections of IPC and NDPS Act. He was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate and remanded in custody. The police are now set to file a petition seeking custody of the accused for five days. Earlier on Saturday night, police had arrested seven persons including the Russian DJ on charges of possessing banned narcotic substance. They were released on bail on Sunday .
