Dharmarajan keeps media guessing

February 13, 2013 12:38 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:27 pm IST - Kochi:

The District Court complex in Kochi witnessed much drama on Tuesday evening after rumours that S.S. Dharmarajan, third accused in the Suryanelli case, would surrender before the Chief Judicial Magistrate here.

As a posse of mediapersons turned up to catch the “surrender,” prominent advocates and court staff too joined in hoping for a glimpse of the notorious Dharmarjan, who is a former advocate.

Lawyers and reporters played the guessing game trying to figure out when he would arrive and what he would say. The line of media vehicles parked outside the court and camerapersons with their gear also invited questions from curious passers-by.

Reporters were kept on their toes wondering if Dharmarajan, the only person convicted in the case, would choose to surrender before the police.

As the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s car drove away after a meeting of Magistrates here, all eyes were on the evening court in session at the court complex. A couple of policemen in plainclothes too turned up later in the evening, heightening the sense of anticipation.

Eager mediapersons figured that Dharmarjan was a no-show only at 8 p.m., when the evening court too shut its doors.
