Cut-offs rise for MG varsity courses

The cut-off percentage witnessed an increase of about two to five per cent for B.Com in majority of the arts and science colleges in Ernakulam district.

Finally, expectations of spiralling cut-offs for popular undergraduate programmes offered by the Mahatma Gandhi University in the new academic year have come true.

The cut-off percentage witnessed an increase of about two to five per cent for B.Com in majority of the arts and science colleges in Ernakulam district.

According to the data available after the second allotment through the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) conducted by the Mahatma Gandhi University, the cut-off for B.Com (general category) in the order of 10 most-preferred colleges include Sacred Heart College, Thevara (96.31); St. Albert’s College (94.73);

St. Teresa’s College (94.21); St. Xavier’s College, Aluva (93.68); Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara (93.36); Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha and Cochin College (92.94); St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery (92.63); M. A. College, Kothamangalam (91.36); St. Peter’s College, Kolencherry (91.36); and Sree Sankara College, Kalady (91.05).

The cut-off for B.A.. Economics, one of the most-sought after programmes this year, witnessed an increase of three to five per cent in the general category this year. The cut-off list in the 10 most preferred colleges include St. Teresa’s College (84.27);

Sacred Heart College, Thevara (82.27); SNM College, Maliankara and Aquinas College, Edakochi (81.58); U. C. College, Aluva (80.55); St. Xavier’s College, Aluva (80.41); St. Albert’s College (79.44); Cochin College (79.03); Sree Sankara College, Kalady (78.75); M. A. College, Kothamangalam (78.68); and St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery (77.93).

For B.A.. English, the cut-off was marginal, with most of the colleges registering at least two to three per cent rise.

The list of 10 most-preferred colleges include St. Teresa’s College (85.81); U. C. College, Aluva (83.75); Maharajas College (83.51); St. Albert’s College (82.72);

Sacred Heart College, Thevara (82.06); St. Xavier’s College, Aluva (81.69); Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara (81.15); M. A. College, Kothamangalam (79.51);

Sree Sankara College, Kalady (77.69); St. Peter’s College, Kolencherry (76.54).
