A couple travelling in their car was attacked after they questioned the rash driving by a person riding a luxury vehicle near Padivattom here on Saturday evening.
Prabish P.K., 29, a resident of Vazhakala, suffered a fracture while his wife Anu, 23, sustained minor injuries and they were admitted to a private hospital near Palarivattom following the attack.
Palarivattom police said the couple was attacked but refused to record the arrest of the accused hours after the incident that took place around 6.30 p.m. The sub-inspector said the accused could be taken into custody only after ascertaining the facts. He also alleged that Mr. Prabish retaliated by beating up the accused.

Mr. Prabish said the driver of the luxury vehicle hurled abuse at his wife when they questioned his rash and negligent driving. The accused came out of the car and started beating him. Mr. Prabish’s wife also received blows when she tried to prevent the accused from attacking her husband. The couple alleged that two other persons travelling in the car had also joined the driver and attacked them.
