The Kerala High Court has asked the State government to respond to a writ petition seeking a directive to the State government to consider framing a code of conduct for Ministers in view of the recent controversial remarks made by Electricity Minister M.M. Mani.
In his petition, Joseph Shine said Mr. Mani had made derogatory comments about women, civil servants, and media persons. In fact, several complaints were lodged with the police seeking to register criminal cases against Mr. Mani.
He had violated the oath he had taken under the Constitution by making such speeches.

The petitioner sought to declare that Mr. Mani had committed breach of oath. The petition has been posted for hearing after the summer vacation.
The court will also take up for hearing the writ petition seeking a directive to conduct an inquiry into the allegation that Mr. Mani had made derogatory remarks about activists of the Pengal Otrumai and threatened civil servants involved in the removal of encroachments in Munnar.
