CM on the trot for 17 hours at mass contact programme in Kochi

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy spent more than 17 hours on the trot hearing out 14,248 people who came to his mass contact programme that stretched from 9 a.m. on Friday to about 2.30 a.m. on Saturday.

A statement released by the district Public Relations Department said the Chief Minister directly settled 1,981 complaints at the programme while the district authorities and the screening committees settled another 5,000 cases.

Rs. 2.14 crore was distributed as financial assistance to people who had appealed for help, the press release said. 924 people received Rs. 2.02 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Another 62 people received financial assistance totalling Rs. 12.40 lakh from the National Family Benefit Scheme, the press release said. Forty people were gifted three-wheelers.
