CBSE students take top slots in engg. entrance

June 20, 2013 01:12 am | Updated 01:12 am IST - KOCHI:

Kerala CBSE School Managements Association has claimed that students from CBSE syllabus have outdone students from the State syllabus in the engineering entrance exam.

Association State general secretary Indira Rajan said 574 students, which was an appreciable 3.31 per cent of the 17.334 CBSE students who appeared for the exam, have found a place in the top 1,000. However, only 364 out of the 38,691 State syllabus students managed a place in the top 1,000 ranks. This was just 0.94 per cent of the number of State syllabus students who appeared for the exam, Ms. Rajan claimed.

She further claimed that 75 per cent out of the first 100 rank holders were CBSE students. The first three ranks were also bagged by the CBSE students, she said. Ms. Rajan said this feat was achieved despite the unscientific rank determination system followed this year as well, which she alleged, was targeted at keeping CBSE students away from the professional course.
