The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted a petition before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here seeking to make two school teachers approvers in a case in which an official allegedly took money from the teachers in return for jobs.
Biju C. Valluvanadan, treasurer of Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha in Ernakulam, allegedly demanded donations from Preethi Anilkumar and Judy Joseph, teachers of a school in Chottanikkara under the Sabha, in return for the teaching job.
Ms. Anilkumar was allegedly approached by Mr. Valluvanadan before the interview. He had said the post of Chemistry teacher with Rs.17,000 monthly salary could be hers if she paid him Rs.4 lakh. After making the payment, she attended the interview and was appointed to the school soon after. Ms. Joseph said she was approached by Mr. Valluvanadan three days after she attended the interview. “He said the job could be secured if we paid Rs.5 lakh as donation,” she said in a statement before the court. After negotiation, they paid Rs.3 lakh.
