Call to formulate long-term plans for city

Development plans should be undertaken with a futuristic and broad-minded perspective, keeping in mind the fact that India is expected to become a prominent global power by 2030, Minister for Urban Development Manjalamkuzhi Ali has said.

The Minister was speaking at a function organised here on Friday to release the logo of GCDA’s Vision 2030. Its website too was launched.

In his address, the Minister for Excise, Fisheries and Ports K. Babu said that the State government accorded top priority to projects like the Kochi metro rail and SmartCity. Prompt coordination among different agencies is a must for the timely completion of these projects, he said, and hoped that the development seminar being organised by the GCDA on August 16 and 17 would help enhance cooperation among different agencies.

The seminar will be opened by Speaker G. Karthikeyan. The chairman of GCDA N. Venugopal presided over the meet. Mayor Tony Chammany, Hibi Eden, Ludy Luiz and Dominic Presentation, MLAs, and members of the GCDA executive committee were present.
