SHRC directive on stray-dog menace

: State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) chairman J.B. Koshy on Monday directed the State Police Chief T.P Sen Kumar to submit a report by October 20 on steps to handle stray-dog menace. The direction followed a petition by the Kochi-based stray-dog free movement, an organisation led by industrialist Chittilapilly Kochouseph. — Staff Reporter

Seminar for life insurance firms

: The Insurance Ombudsman – Kochi will organise a one-day seminar on Tuesday for life insurance and general insurance companies operating in Kerala. The aim is to discuss methods to redress grievances of policyholders based on instructions of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA). Consumer protection groups too can participate and offer suggestions. It will be inaugurated by Governor P. Sathasivam at The Center Hotel, Panampilly Nagar.

Film premiere

: The world premiere of The Indian Priest, directed by internationally renowned Swedish documentary film- maker Mattias Low, was held at Sacred Heart College, Thevara, on Monday. The documentary deals with the service of Raphael Kurian, a Catholic priest in Sweden and Kerala. Paul Aachandy, Prior General, CMI congregation, was the chief guest at the event. Prasant Palackapillil , college Principal, Jose Thuravackal, vice principal, Sacred Heart College, Babu Joseph, Director, SH School of Communication attended the function.
