BJP releases first list of candidates for polls

The BJP and its allies released the first list of 62 candidates for the Kochi Corporation, which included some of the office bearers of Sree Narayana Youth Movement, the youth wing of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam.

The BJP leaders, who refused to name the candidates affiliated to the Movement, said some candidates suggested by Sahkaha Yogams of SNDP were also accommodated.

These candidates will be contesting in lotus symbol of the party, BJP leaders said.

The list was released by party A.N. Radhakrishnan and P.J. Thomas.

While Sudha Dileepkumar, one of the sitting councillors of the party was in the first list, Shyamala Prabhu’s name would be in the second list. The lone Muslim candidate in the list was Sofia Sherief, the Kerala Congress Nationalist’s nominee.

Padmaja S. Menon, the daughter of late trade unionist S.C.S. Menon, P.V. Athikayan, the State secretary of Bharath Vikas Parishat is also in the BJP list.

Nominees of Kerala Congress (P.C. Thomas), RSP (B) Thamarakshan faction have been accommodated in the list, said N.S. Sajikumar, district vice president of the Party.

The Aam Admi Party released a list of 13 candidates on Monday.
