The high-level committee meeting chaired by Elias George, chairman of the Electricity Board, entrusted the collector to find an amicable solution after the SmartCity officials approached the State government.

The pending issue between SmartCity and Kerala State Electricity Board regarding laying of electricity cables along the project area will be resolved this week, said P.I. Sheikh Pareed, District Collector. He was speaking after inspecting the contentious area along with officials of SmartCity and KSEB on Monday.

The State government had asked the collector to use his powers as the District Magistrate to resolve the issue after hearing the arguments of both the parties, who presented their case at a meeting convened at the collector’s chamber recently.

The Pallikkara-Brahmapuram electricity line passes through the SmartCity project area and the issue was regarding construction of a tower. SmartCity officials had been asking for land in lieu of the space used for the tower and the KSEB has been asking the collector to invoke his special powers to give permission for laying of the electric line.
