The battle for supremacy in the Perumbavoor Asssembly segment has shifted to top gear, as candidates of leading political parties are pulling out all stops to woo voters.
Saju Paul, sititng MLA and CPI(M) candidate, began his day by meeting voters at Okkal panchayat.
“I have requested voters to think if they would like to have a candidate who have worked with them in various capacities, or a candidate who have not even been in the constituency for the last 30 days [referring to the UDF candidate],” Mr. Paul said, referring to his three consecutive victories in the constituency.

He added that he could also effectively use his MLA fund for improving infrastructure and launching welfare measures for people.
Eldhose Kunnappilly, the UDF candidate, is making all efforts to make dents in the LDF stronghold. He began the day’s campaign at Rayamangalam.
Alleging that the sitting MLA could not ensure the overall development of Perumbavoor, Mr. Kunnappilly said a bypass still remained a dream in the region. “Despite winning the segment for the last three times, the LDF could not address water scarcity in Perumbavoor. Several areas in the constituency are facing drinking water shortage,” he said.

BJP candidate E.S. Biju began his campaign at Chelamattom and visited a Dalit colony at Iruvichira. Party workers and well-wishers participated in a rally from Kurumpadi, which was taken out before he filed his nomination papers.
