A month-long entrepreneurship development programme will be held here from April 20 to help people with appropriate skills identify and launch suitable ventures in various sectors.
The programme is part of schemes being implemented by the State Youth Welfare Board across the State, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), an autonomous body.
The training scheme was being launched in nine districts during April and May, officials of the institute said. The programme had already started in certain districts. The institute, based in Gujarat and having regional offices in various States, including Kerala, had been conducting schemes with a view to bringing out entrepreneurial skills, P.N. The training expenses would be borne by the board. The selection of candidates would be done by a four-member team consisting of one representative each from EDI, District Industries Centre, the board, and District Lead Bank. Anyone in the 18-40 age group and had passed at least Class 10 was eligible to apply for the programme, he said. The EDI programme helps people with a certain entrepreneurial ideas nurture them. Guidance is being provided for getting funds required for the enterprise as well as for market analysis.
He said banks in general were prepared to fund projects with a clear project report. The training sessions would help the candidates prepare appropriate project reports.

The market analysis is planned in such a way that the candidates themselves will work out details so that they get sufficient insight.
The training programme would encompass information on operational systems essential for running an enterprise. The candidates would get an opportunity to familiarise themselves with accounting practices, registration procedures, and rules pertaining to pollution and electricity connection. All such faculties would help the entrepreneurs steer clear of minor obstacles in the way of successful implementation of the project.
