A group of 100 young people from China had a fun time taking in the sights of old Kochi and Mattancherry here on Sunday.

The group, who are part of a youth exchange programme to India organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, visited the St. Francis Church in Fort Kochi, the Dutch Palace, and parts of Mattancherry. The Chinese delegation, all aged between 18 and 25 years, also got to try their hand at working the Chinese fishing nets along the Fort Kochi coastline.

The All China Youth Federation was hosted in Kochi by the District Administration, Nehru Yuva Kendra, and youth organisation Mythri Social Group. Members of the group ensured that the delegation got a feel of local culture, even though most of the tourists did not speak English. The group concluded the Kochi leg of their trip with some shopping. On Monday, the delegation heads back to Delhi with memories of the architecture, history, and cosmopolitan culture of Kochi.
