Accord on cargo clearance

Trade unions representing workers engaged in cargo clearance activities at the Kochi Port have decided to do away with the compartmentalisation of workers to ensure that cargo arriving at the port godowns are despatched promptly. The decision came at a meeting convened by Chairman of Cochin Port Trust Paul Antony to sort out the issues related to delays in despatch of consignments of fertiliser. The unions collectively decided to have a transparent system of deployment of workers.
