Travel mart opens in city

More than 150 exhibitors from across the country and abroad to participate

KOCHI: The three-day India International Travel Mart (IITM) began at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kadavanthra, on Thursday. The ninth edition of the mart brings together over 150 exhibitors from across the country and abroad, said a statement from the organisers.

IITM is the umbrella event of the Tourism Department. The participating States include Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. The countries attending the mart are Italy, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Mauritius, and the UAE.

The participants will showcase their products and packages in travel, tour, and hospitality sectors at the mart, which is open between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Entry is free.

Diverse tourism products from the State are also showcased. The event is expected to attract more than 3,000 travel agents from across the State. More than 15,000 holidaymakers are also expected to attend the event, the organisers said.
