State meet of nurses opens in Kochi

The 32nd State conference of Kerala Government Public Health Nurses and Supervisors Association was formally inaugurated by Ramesh Chennithala, president, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee here on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering Mr. Chennithala said that the health sector is in a deep crisis and nothing is being done to make the health delivery system work efficiently.

He alleged corruption in the utilisation of the funds coming through the National Rural Health Mission.

At the function, V. Sadasivan, patron, presided. K. Babu, MLA; R. Chandrasekharan, INTUC State president, Lathika Subhash, KPCC Secretary, Kottathala Mohan, State president, Kerala NGO Association; P. N. Prasannakumari, general secretary, Kerala Government Nurses Union and M. K. Ponnamma, Maternal-Child Health Officer, spoke on the occasion.
