Rare music titles on display

“When the universe is sunk in sleep, and the sky is dark. / My soul is alert and humming and full, / I do not know what mighty message yearningly sounds in the music.” This magic of music is what endeared Rabindranath Tagore to all.

Now, a rare chance has come for non-Bengali readers of Tagore to go deeper into the music and lyricism of Tagore, as the ongoing Navaratri music fair has come up with rare titles, probably for the first time in the State.

Among the main titles are

The Dust and the Sunlight (songs and recitations from Rabindranath Tagore's Gitanjali), which has music rendering of Bengali versions along with recitation of their English translations.

Translations

Translations, other than those done by Tagore himself, are done and recited by poet William Radice, an authority in translating Tagore.
