The Kerala State legal Services Authority, in association with the Lawyers' Environmental Awareness Forum and the Kerala High Court Advocates' Association, will plant saplings on Saturday as part of World Environmental Day celebrations.
C.N. Ramachandran Nair, judge of the High Court of Kerala, will inaugurate the celebrations at the Kerala High Court Advocates' Association Hall at 10 a.m. K.P. Ouseph, Chief Conservator of Forests and Custodian of Ecologically Fragile Land, will speak on Kerala Forest Policy and the problems in its implementation. Legy Abraham, secretary of the Forum, will preside.
The Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM), the youth movement of the Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese will organise a variety of awareness programmes in connection with World Environment Day.

The programme will start off with a mini marathon from the Rajendra Maidan. Deputy Police Commissioner P.H. Ashraf will flag off the marathon at 10 a.m. It will end at St. Mary's Basilica. This will be followed by an environment friendly gathering, “My Earth,” to be attended by various cultural and social leaders.
Saplings will be distributed on the occasion based on the theme “save nature, save humanity.” A seminar on the problems faced by the environment and its solutions will be held in the afternoon. The acclaimed documentary “The Inconvenient Truth” on global warming by the former American Vice-President Al Gore will also be screened.
