Pedestrian killed

A woman was killed as she was walking alongside the National Highway-47 at Thuravur near here on Saturday after a van lost control, ran over her and went on to wreak havoc in the area. According to the police, Chandramathi, 50, of Pattanakad, was hit by the van, which was on its way from Nedumbassery to Aranmula, about 9 a.m., killing her on the spot. The van then hit another person, Kuttan, 30, who was standing nearby, hit a car that was going ahead of the van and finally crashed into a roadside flower-shop, injuring the shop-keeper.
